7. Kawasaki Ninja 250SL:
Kawasaki's
latest entry into the 250cc sports bike arena is the KAWASAKI NINJA 250SL. This
bike is super light powered by 4-stroke single cylinder engine mounted on
original trellis frame. Kawasaki Ninja RR
Mono and in some markets as the Ninja 250SL, is nimble, light and affordable
quarter-litre bike could be what people in emerging markets like India
have been waiting for. This single-cylinder model offers a little less power
but more torque than the parallel-Twin Ninja 250R, and at the same time weighs
about 20kg less. This could mean that the new bike has a surprisingly good
power-to-weight ratio and would be a nimble handling machine.
Design
& Style:
The 250SL has an all-new steel trellis frame,
different than the current Ninja 250 and 300, with focus on handling and
maneuverability. Equipped with a single headlight, the overall design of the
new Ninja does hint at elder sibling - the ZX-6R. To save cost, the 250SL
borrows plenty of parts from the Ninja 300 basket, which includes the exhaust
and alloy wheels.The SL models have the same trellis outline.
The Z250SL has the same 30.9-inch seat tallness as the 300 models yet the
Ninja 250sl is marginally lower at 30.7 inches. The Singles however have
shorter wheelbases at 52.4 inches contrasted with 55.3 inches on the Twins.
The Z250SL has higher handlebars for a more upright seating position
while the Ninja 250SL has more forceful cuts that are much lower
than the ones on the Ninja 300.
Engine:
The new single-cylinder engine is a liquid-cooled fuel-injected
249cc mill, which according to Kawasaki can churn out 27.6PS at 9700rpm and 23
Nm at 8200 revs, compared to the twin-cylinder’s 33PS at 11000 rpm and 22Nm at
10000 rpm. The 250SL has a claimed weight of 150kg (the optional ABS adds a
meager 2kg) compared to the Ninja 250 which weighs about 172kg.
Dimensions,
Weight and Fuel Tank Capacity:
It comes with a length of 2010
mm, width of 750 mm and a height of 1025 mm as its dimensions along with a
weight of 148 Kgs. It has a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres which does not
disappoints you on the long runs.
Brakes and
Suspension:
The 250 SL has got 290 mm Petal
disc brakes at the front and 220 mm Petal disc brakes at the rear. The
suspension system comprises of 37 mm hydraulic telescopic fork at the front and
Uni-Trak with aluminum linkage at the rear. All for effective braking and
superior handling.
Instrument
Console:
The bike has got fully digital
instrument console which includes speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and two
tripmeters. It also features indicators for low fuel, low oil and low battery
which keeps you updated.
Shades:
The awesome bike is available in
three color styles: Orange, Green and Black.
Price:
Kawasaki 250 SL will be priced
around INR 1.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) may vary. Overall, it serves as a
good package from Kawasaki and is known for its stunning looks, speed and
amazing performance.
